This symposium convened a diverse group of researchers, advocates, donors and clinicians from around the globe to address the urgent need for MPTs. From this 2009 symposium, the Initiative for Multipurpose Prevention Technologies (IMPT) was created with the mission to unite interdisciplinary experts. This initiative will enhance collaborations to advance MPT development for the prevention of unintended pregnancy, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and/or other reproductive tract infections.
